STYLE...   FOR THOSE WHO WON'T ACCEPT THE NORM.

Dean-Kingston interior.

The tail fins of a ’64 vintage Cadillac peer from the roof as you walk into DEAN-KINGSTON. Shirts swish by on an industrial laundry conveyor inside the entrance. Massive crystal chandeliers droop from high ceilings. One wall boasts a mural-size photo of the store’s patron saints: intrepid Della Dean and Fanny Lou Kingston, who opened DEAN-KINGSTON in Arizona in 1949 then built a small dynasty of loyal customers.

The entrepreneurial spirit of the founders thrives in this new boutique on Foch Street. The attitude hearkens back to the time of so-smooth Sinatra, rebel James Dean and good cigars. But the verve is pure 21st century, with racks brimming with contemporary, hip attire for both men and women scoured from the lines of up-and-coming or obscure designers like Pure Boheimian, Walter and Jon Sonen! Vintage clothing and classy, unique jewelry mix with life-style finds like cigar humidors, hammocks and fanciful Martiniwear.

And it’s all housed in a lively, 4,000-square-foot space filled with a sophisticated, playful attitude. The pool table is racked and ready for use and a vintage video flashes on one wall. Customers are offered a glass of wine or water while searching for that special look. It’s just the sort of place to find the hip, sophisticated merchandise certain to make a statement.

If you won’t accept the norm in your appearance, then stop by and meet co-owners Summer Dean, great niece of founder Della, and Stacie Poyner. Their creative energy and love of a great find are sure to make this trip worth your time.
