Fort Worth Rising: Is the Indie Music Scene Achieving Liftoff?

With popular music venues like Main at South Side, Lola’s, and Shipping and Receiving and a growing number of music-centered events like Fortress Festival and Friday on the Green, Fort Worth’s music scene is earning its “Funky Town” moniker. The city has a history of genre-defying artists from King Curtis to Delbert McClinton, but now the national fame of Leon Bridges and the Toadies has brought new attention to Fort Worth’s talented, ambitious independent artists and record labels.
