Movies That Matter, a film series program of the City of Fort Worth’s Human Relations Commission, is restarting after a yearlong hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 10-year-old program will present Inequality for All at 7 p.m. April 8 at Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St.
In the wake of the U.S. economic crisis, the widening gap between the rich and the poor has gained unprecedented public awareness. The film’s narrator and guide, UC-Berkeley professor and noted economic policy expert Robert Reich, helps viewers understand how extreme inequality has roots in economic and policy changes that began more than 30 years ago. Punctuated by moments that allow viewers to know Reich personally, the film exposes his unwavering passion to return society to one in which the American dream is possible for everyone.
Admission is free. Make reservations online. All seating becomes available first come, first served — regardless of reservation — 15 minutes before the published start time of the program. The auditorium is operating at 50% capacity, which will allow for a maximum of 110 guests. Masks are required while you are in the building and throughout the duration of the program.
For those who aren’t yet comfortable with an in-person program, there is a virtual ticket option, available via the EventBrite signup, that will provide access to view the film from 7 p.m. Thursday, April 8 through 7 p.m. Saturday, April 10.
Movies That Matter was created in 2010 as a way to create awareness in the community about human rights issues affecting people in Fort Worth and worldwide. The series presents human rights-related film screenings and moderated discussions.
