The City of Fort Worth, in collaboration with area business owners, is exploring the possibility of establishing a Public Improvement District (PID) in the West 7th and Foundry District. This initiative seeks to enhance the quality of life for businesses and visitors alike by providing additional services and improvements not currently offered through existing city resources.

What is a PID? A Public Improvement District is a defined geographical area where property owners agree to fund enhancements and services beyond those the city already provides. This can include increased safety measures, cleaning services, and cultural promotions, creating a more vibrant and attractive environment for everyone.

Key Features of the Proposed West 7th Street PID:

• Safety Enhancements: Increased police presence, security cameras, improved lighting, and street calming measures.
• Cleanliness and Maintenance: Regular cleaning services, litter abatement, and maintenance operations.

Proposed Boundaries: The proposed PID would span from University Drive to Woolery Street, focusing on commercial properties to enhance the area's business and leisure appeal.

The Van Zandt

The Van Zandt, a mixed-use development that commenced construction in December 2023, is strategically located in the Cultural District along West 7th, at the center of the thriving entertainment district. Encompassing approximately 102,000 square feet of Class AA office space, 226 multi-family units, 11,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, and a parking garage with 530 parking stalls, this development epitomizes the live-work-play environment. The amenity-rich asset includes an outdoor amenity deck with a fitness center, pool, and indoor/outdoor meeting spaces.

One University

Around the corner to the Van Zandt development, One University, situated at 1001 University Drive across from the Museum District, began development in January 2024. Upon completion, the project is set to offer 12,000 SF of street-level retail/restaurant space along University Drive, 744 parking stalls, 116,000 SF of Class AA office space, 259 multifamily units, and a 175-key high-end Autograph Collection hotel. Autograph Collection, known for Hotel Drover and The Sinclair Hotel in Fort Worth, further enhances the multifaceted offerings within the district.

The Crescent

The Crescent Hotel debuted in late summer 2023. The hotel is the newest project in Crescent Real Estate’s platinum portfolio of properties. Inspired by Fort Worth’s surrounding world-class museums and historic neighborhoods, The Crescent Hotel mirrors the unique history, diversity and character of the city. This project includes 175 luxury residential units, a premier 200-room boutique hotel with a chef-driven restaurant, a rooftop lounge, and an 8,000 sf ballroom. The 160,000 sf of Class A office space will offer businesses the opportunity to office in the heart of the Cultural District. The Crescent Office West, which is scheduled to break ground late this year, will contain two restaurants, a gym, amenity deck and meeting space.

The Bowie House

Bowie House, Auberge Resorts Collection, the luxury, urban retreat embodying Fort Worth’s unique character, opened December 2023 – a hotel destined to become the city’s social nexus. Merging the classic Western personality of Texas with a decidedly modern feel, the hotel captures the approachable sophistication, cultural vibrancy and equestrian spirit of Fort Worth, further establishing the city as an exciting urban destination for discerning travelers from around the world. 

Claiming beautiful views over the Cultural District or lush courtyard gardens, each of the resort’s 88 Studios, 12 Lofts and 6 Suites – several with open-air balconies – are imbued with the warm spirit of the West.

Hotel Dryce

An old dry-ice factory in Fort Worth’s Cultural District has transformed into Hotel Dryce, a new boutique hotel. Jonathan Morris and his business partner Allen Mederos went to great lengths to pay homage to the original structure. The brick exterior wall still serves as a barrier for the courtyard, and part of the original warehouse’s paint scheme remains throughout the hotel. “Dryce,” of course, is a portmanteau of “dry” and “ice.”

The three-story hotel features 21 guest rooms and The Lobby Bar, a local favorite hang-out spot featuring craft cocktails and live music.
